The toughness, strength and wear resistance of steel are often in conflict with each other. Therefore, the chemical composition of the steel needs to be reasonably selected and a reasonable refining, heat treatment and heat treatment process is used to achieve the best match between wear resistance, strength and toughness of the mould material.

Impact performance refers to the total energy absorbed by the h14 mould steel material throughout the fracture process during an impact. However, many tools will fracture under different working conditions and fatigue, conventional impact toughness does not fully reflect the fatigue performance of the die steel. Test methods are used for small energy, multiple press work or multiple press life and fatigue life.

Wear resistance.

The main factor affecting the die life is usually the wear resistance of the die material. As the die is subjected to high compressive stresses and friction during operation, it is necessary for the die to maintain dimensional accuracy under strong frictional forces. The main forms of wear are mechanical wear, oxidation wear and melt wear. In order to improve the wear resistance of the mould steel, it is necessary to make the mould steel have both a high hardness and a good composition, morphology and distribution of carbides or other hardening phases.
