Depending on the use, mould steels can be divided into three types: cold-worked mould steels, hot-worked mould steels and plastic mould steels.

Cold-worked mould steels.

Cold-worked mould steels are mainly used in the manufacture of moulds for cold pressing workpieces. For example: cold punching dies, cold stamping dies, cold drawing dies, stamping dies, cold extrusion dies, threading dies, powder pressing dies, etc. There is a wide range of cold forming tool steels, including various carbon tool steels, alloy tool steels, high speed tool steels, powder high speed tool steels and powder high alloy tool steels.

Hot work mould steel.

Hot work of mould steel is mainly used in the manufacture of high temperature pressing workpiece mould. For example: hot forging die, hot extrusion die, die casting die, hot upsetting die, etc.. Common hot work of the mold steel are: containing Cr, W, Mo, V and other high carbon content alloying elements of the mold steel; need special hot work of cr12mov rolling plate, sometimes made of high alloy austenitic heat-resistant mold steel.

Plastic mould steel.

Due to the wide variety of plastic, the different requirements of plastic products, plastic mold materials put forward a variety of performance requirements.
