In order to improve the wear resistance of die steel cr8, it is necessary to make the die steel have both high hardness and good composition, morphology and distribution of carbides or other hardening phases. For dies used under heavy load and high speed wear conditions, it is required to form a thin, dense, well adhered oxide film on the surface of the die steel to maintain lubrication, reduce melt wear, cause bonding and welding between the die and workpiece, and also reduce oxidation wear on the surface of the die caused by oxidation. Mould working conditions therefore have a significant impact on steel wear.

Using simulation test methods, it is possible to measure the wear resistance index of high-speed die steels with different chemical compositions and microstructures as a parameter to characterise the level of wear resistance. Life before specified burr heights are displayed to reflect the level of wear resistance of various steel grades; the test is based on Cr12MoV steel.

Thermal fatigue resistance.

Under service conditions, it is not only affected by cyclic load changes, but also by high temperatures and cyclic rapid cooling heating. Therefore, attention should be paid to the evaluation of the thermomechanical fatigue fracture properties of the material. Comprehensive thermomechanical fatigue performance indicators include thermomechanical fatigue performance, mechanical fatigue crack expansion rate and fracture toughness.
