H13, S7 or carburised steel P4 for high temperature thermosetting plastic moulds. Which has a high chromium content and good resistance to tempering and high temperature oxidation.

There are 5 sub-categories of common pre-hardened plastic mould steel, high quality pre-hardened plastic mould steel, high hardness pre-hardened plastic mould steel, anti-corrosion mirror pre-hardened plastic mould steel and anti-corrosion mirror pre-hardened plastic mould steel.

The mould category is divided into the following categories according to the US SPI-SPE standard.

Type 101 moulds (SPI-SPE standard beer 1,000,000 beers or more, long-term precision production moulds)

Minimum hardness of 280BN for both die materials.(2 steel/4140 steel, DME#)

The inner mould steel with glue bits must see hardened to 48-50 HRC. other parts such as line bits, press locks, press bars etc. should also be hardware.
