Plastic mould steels
In the plastic mould special steel, the countries that classify mould steel as tool steel, expressed by P, are divided into five types.
◆ Plastic mould steel: P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,P6. This steel has a very low carbon content and is mainly used in the United States in the early days of the extrusion mould making method, which requires good cold plasticity, strong extrusion, surface carburizing and quenching after forming to improve surface hardness and long service life. The heart of the ultra-low carbon can reduce the deformation during quenching.
Adjustable plastic moulds: P20,P21. P20 is used in a large amount of plastic moulds and has become the main body, mostly used for pre-hardening state.
Medium carbon alloy tool steel is used to make thermosetting plastic moulds. The steel number is H13, while L2 and S7, O1 and A2 are also the same. This type is characterised by being basically a secondary hardening gold steel, with a better thermal strength of h14 mould steel at 500-600oC. The chromium content is high and the corrosion of the atmosphere is good. The hardenability is excellent and it is suitable for large die sets.
